3 days with 2 days cycling at altitude as you explore the high plateaus of the Mézenc. Open to most cyclists, this is a condensed and challenging itinerary that has you cycling over vast expanses of open landscape. Ride along the Transcévenole disused railway track with its emblematic Recoumène viaduct and explore the
Les Estables village resort and Mount Mézenc.

Get away from it all for the weekend and admire authentic mountain landscapes, volcanic lakes and prairies, and the Haut-Loire architecture and gastronomy.

    Day 1 : Your arrival in Le Puy-en-Velay

    A nice opportunity to discover the ancient town an the European capital of Saint-James way.

    Day 1 : Le Puy-en-Velay – Les Estables - 47 km- D+1100M

    After taking possession of your bikes, head off over hills and through forests towards the village of Monastier-sur-Gazeille, which was made famous by Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson.
    Pedal along the Transcévenole, a railway line that was built to link Le Puy-en-Velay with Aubenas but has never been used. The trail will lead you across the impressive La Recoumène viaduct, which is an architectural masterpiece.
    The route takes you to the village of Présailles, then you will cycle along the GR 40 (Tour du Velay) to the village resort of Les Estables (more hardcore cyclists can go via Freycenet-La-Cuche). The views of the Mézenc as you reach your destination are magical.

    Day 2 : Les Estables - Le Puy-en-Velay - 47 km - 365M

    Drink in the panoramas from the high plateaus of the Mézenc. Stop off to admire the view from the Pécata cross (start of the climb up the Mézenc), before following the rampart walkway around Mount Alambre and pedalling towards Saint-Front, then Bigorre... Cross an ancient bridge near Brives-Charenasc to head back to Le Puy-en-Velay.

    If you plan to travel with your bike, please make sure of certain points:

    If it is an electrically assisted bicycle, the battery must have a minimum power of 400 watts. Attention: the battery must be removable, if this is not the case, please contact us to check the possibilities of reception.
    It is imperative that it be in perfect working order before departure. Consider getting it checked out.
    Thank you for providing an adequate repair kit as well as a smartphone holder on the handlebars
    Our routes mix small roads and paths, your bike must be hybrid, mountain bike or gravel with suitable tires. City and road bikes are therefore to be avoided – If in doubt, call us!
