Walk on your own on the Stevenson Trail from Le Puy-en-Velay to Saint-Jean du Gard, follow in the footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson through the Cevennes, a nature walk on foot, in total immersion to discover the natural and heritage riches of the Haute-Loire, the Lozere and Gard where you cross the road of the Loire, Allier, Lot, Tarn and Gardon …

Your stays are organized in friendly and varied stops offering you the opportunity to discover the local gastronomy and meet the locals!

The Stevenson trail does not present any particular difficulties even if the elevations are important. Fortunately the landscapes crossed are sublime!

    Day 1 : Your arrival in Le Puy-en-Velay

    Discover the city and its secret street. the Cathedral, starting-point of the Saint-James way. During the evening from May to September have a look on the magnificent Puy de Lumières show.


    DAY 2 : LE PUY-EN-VELAY - LE MONASTIER-SUR-GAZEILLE : 19KM - 5H / 5H30 DE MARCHE

    First steps on the Stevenson trail a kind of warm-up to reach the village of Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille.


    Day 3 : LE MONASTIER - LE BOUCHET-SAINT-NICOLAS : 24KM - 6H30

    Make your way towards the Loire Gorges, to the village of Goudet on the banks of the Loire, before pedalling back up to the amazing Bouchet volcanic lake.


    Day 4 : LE BOUCHET SAINT-NICOLAS - PRADELLES - 21KM - 5H30 DE MARCHE

    Cross the cultivated lands before discovering Landos and Pradelles (labeled most beautiful villages of France). You discover the mountains of Gevaudan spread across the valley of the Allier.


    Day 5 : PRADELLES - LE CHEYLARD L'EVÈQUE (OU CHAUDEYRAC) - 23KM - 6HDE MARCHE

    Enter the beautiful and mysterious forest of Mercoire and reach the Cheylard l'Evèque, a small traditional village isolated and based in the deep countryside


    Day 6 : LE CHEYLARD L'EVÈQUE - LA BASTIDE PUYLAURENT - 27KM 7H (or 21km - 5h)

    The trail is playing with you and our legs ... It goes up, it goes down ... Dive into the valley of Luc where you discover the remains of his castle and hear murmur the first waves of the Allier. Depending on your form of the day, you can choose to go or not till the Abbey of Notre-Dame des Neiges.

    !Tip if you are too tired to go to The Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, choose the direct route towards La Bastide and as the next stage is shorter, then you can go to the Abbaye the day after (21km).


    Day 7 : LA BASTIDE PUY-LAURENT - CHASSERADÈS - 13KM - 3H30 (21km via Notre-Dame-des-Neiges)

    To recover from all your adventures, this is a shorter step. Get on the slopes of Gardille before reaching the small village of Chasseradès ...

    !Tip : Take the opoortunity to visit the Abbey of Notre-Dame-des-Neigestoday (if you did not go the day before). Easy on the eraly morning : 21km total - 6h walk.


    Day 8 : CHASSERADÈS - LE BLEYMARD - 18KM - 5H30

    Today, 2 passes at the program, the first pass near Mirandol and the second the pass of Finiels to cross the Mont-Lozère. A athletic day which reserves you incredible landscapes on the Cevennes.

    Day 9 : LE BLEYMARD - PONT DE MONTVERT - 19KM - 6H

    Gorgeous step between South and North. Climb the Mont-Lozère and enjoy its landscape to 360 ° breathtaking. The descent to Pont de Montvert is beautiful between moor and granite blocks. You enter the lands of the Camisards!


    Day 10 : PONT DE MONTVERT - BÉDOUÉS / COCURÈS - 24KM - 6h30 DE MARCHE

    Climb above Pont de Montvert, the landscapes on the valleys are really spectacular ! Walk towards Florac crossroads of rivers: La Mimente, Tarn, Tarnon and the Pêcher river.


    Day 11 : BÉDOUÈS - ST-JULIEN D'ARPAON : 16KM - 4H Or CASSAGNAS (23KM - 6H)

    Begin your day crossing the Tarnon river. Then walk along the clear Mimente river and its soft murmur. You reach Saint-Julien d'Arpaon, then Cassagnas. A smooth step (or almost!).


    Day 12 : SAINT-JULIEN D'ARPAON - SAINT-GERMAIN DE CALBERTE :23KM - 6H15 (CASSAGNAS 15KM - 4H15)

    As almost every morning, you start your day with a beautiful climb in the forest. up, the scenery is just amazing. The odors change, you walk in the southern land, a subtle blend of vegetation smells of the South of France ...


    Day 13 : SAINT-GERMAIN DE CALBERTE - SAINT-JEAN-DU-GARD : 22KM - 6H15 DE MARCHE

    A day to reach the magnificent Col de Saint-Pierre overlooking the Gardon. You enter the Gard and you just have to go down slope to reach the sweet town of Saint-Jean du Gard bathed by the Gardon.


    Day 14 : Back to Le Puy-en-Velay - Departure at 8h30 ou 13h30

    You, your luggage and your bike will be taken in front of the Office of Tourism for your return to the agency L'Autre Chemin.
